Recovery Raids: Game Rules Summary
This is a hybrid tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) which has been modified for simplicity.
Objective: In each Recovery Raid, your mission is to assist the international villain, teeVillain, in retrieving items left behind after vacating his secret headquarters. These missions can unfold anywhere in the world and may involve elements of danger and eldritch horrors lurking in the shadows.
Character Stats: Your characters have unique attributes and skills, denoted by numbers ranging from 1 to 20. The higher the number, the more proficient your character is in that particular skill.
Turns: The sequence of turns follows your role within the team: Leader -> Brute -> Thief -> Driver/Medic -> Gunman -> Investigator. You may choose to pass on your turn if you feel it’s necessary.
Actions: During your turn, you may perform an action. The Game Master decides if this action requires a roll for execution or if it can be automatically performed.
For actions requiring a skill check, you roll a D20. A roll equal to or less than your character’s stat means success. If it’s more, the action fails.
Rolling Dice in Discord: Dice Golem is a dice-rolling application installed on Discord. To roll dice, type /roll followed by a dice expression in the chat. For instance, typing /roll d20 rolls a 20-sided die, while /roll d10 +2 rolls a 10-sided die and adds 2.
Combat: Combat initiates when either you or an enemy decides to attack.
The combat initiative is decided by a D20 roll-off between the Game Master and the team’s Leader. If the players win, they act first in the sequence: Leader -> Brute -> Thief -> Driver/Medic -> Gunman -> Investigator. If the Game Master wins, all enemies act first.
Attacks: You roll to attack an enemy using your Firearms or Hand-to-Hand Combat skill, depending on the attack type. If the roll is equal to or less than your character’s stat, you hit and deal damage. If not, the attack misses or the enemy dodges.
When an enemy attacks, the targeted character rolls to evade. The evasion is successful if the roll is equal to or less than the character’s Evade stat. If not, the evasion fails and damage is dealt.
Damage: If an attack hits, the damage is calculated based on the attacker’s weapon. The damage is first subtracted from the target’s armor, then any remaining damage is subtracted from the target’s hit points.
For instance, if a character with 3 armor and 12 hit points takes 10 points of damage, the armor absorbs 3 points, reducing the damage to 7 and the hit points to 5.
If a character’s hit points reach 0, they die.
Dead characters cannot participate in future missions unless resurrected through as-yet undisclosed means.
Healing: The Driver/Medic character carries medical kits that can restore hit points. Each kit restores 1D6+2 hit points.
This is a cooperative game where teamwork and strategy can often overcome the most challenging obstacles.
